PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear School Community,

Soccer on Saturdays

This year is our first year that we have participated in the SJSA league with three teams; Under 6, Under 8 and Under 12. Altogether, 32 students registered and played soccer on Saturdays. We held training sessions during the lunch times at school. Thanks to our renovated soccer field, soccer has become one of the favourite sports at school.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank our coaches, Mr Ali Almosawy (U12), Mr Imran Syed (U6 & U12), Mr Shaji Akhter (U8), Mr Adeel Mansuri and Mrs Sonia Mansuri (U8) for their continuous support throughout the season.

Finally, I would like to invite you to the U12 Grand Final that will take place at 11:30 am at the main pitch 2 this Saturday. Regardless of the result, I would like to congratulate our champions, the U12 team players, for their hard work. I believe that this experience has helped them become a better team player and a communicator.

Term 3 Activities and Eid Festival

Term 3 has been a very active term with many school-wide activities. In the past weeks, we organized Science Week, Book Week, 100 Days at School, the Eid Festival and the Literacy and Numeracy Week. By organizing these activities, we aim to add fun element into their learning, help them focus on their interest topics and moreover celebrate their achievements together as a big family.

I want to thank you for your contribution to these activities. I also appreciate your attendance and support to the Eid Festival. It was a successful event. I want to thank all the parents who helped us organized the event specifically to the organizing committee members, Mrs Farah Shaikh, Mrs Salimah Sheriff and staff members, Mrs Singh and Miss Avan.

Naplan

We have just received the Naplan 2018 results. Although, Naplan is not the only indicator nor it could measure the level of the students accurately, the results still provide us some data to work on. Based on the results, most of our Year 3 and 5 students are at or above level. We also have a few excellent scores on certain categories. I would like to congratulate the hardworking staff members and the parents for their contribution to the students’ success. And we also need to remember that we aim to prepare them for life and they need to equip with many skills and more importantly a love for learning.

I also want to inform you that starting from 2019, Naplan tests will be online and as a school we are getting ready in terms of our devices, the Internet connection, etc. We already had a ‘School Readiness Test’ that Year 3 and Year 5 students practiced at school.
